Louis Awerbuck is indeed worth his own thread here. Speaking of him in the same breath as {some others} would be a great disservice to him.I have known Louis Awerbuck for some seven years now, and have come to the understanding that he is truly a "Yoda" grade instructor. I have been fortunate enough to have him in my shop quite often, and train under him as well. His instincts, skills, and abilty to impart the essence of these to his students are among the highest quality to be found anywhere. The B.S. level with Louis is as near zero as can be found in a living being, and I enjoy his dry sense of humor as well. One of the things I appreciate the most about him is that he is continually trying to improve his tactics, and personal ability to survive anywhere, anytime. I highly recommend his training to all of you, regardless of your previous experience. IP: Logged |

I had the rare opportunity to train under Louis Awerbuck last November. I also just received his latest book the day I left for the class. The book, "The Tactical Advantage" made great evening reading after each day of training. By reading his thoughts there, I realized the outstanding instruction and insight we received is but a tiny fraction of his total knowledge.I heartily concur one of his many strong points is his obvious constant strive for self-improvement. I would love to hear any war stories about him in his African service. ------------------ Edmund aka Archbishop Edzilla of the Church of Tactical Truth The CTT is a lighthearted forum. If you ever have the opportunity to attend one of Louie's classes - DO IT! I have been fortunate enough to take a few different classes from him - and I will again. Kevin mentioned "Yoda" and near zero BS factor... Absolutely true. Louis has BTDT (been there and done that)... and seen just about everything. Open your mind and absorb his words, philosphy, actions and methods. In class you will uncover more of both your own flaws and capabilities. Having stripped away the non-necessary complexities - Louis focues on core survival tactics and functional simplicity. When TSHTF, and your brain shrinks to the size of a pea under stress, you are better equiped to function and survice. Having just typed in the above, I realize that Mad Dog's knives have the many of the same characteristics as Louie's teachings. So much from Louis to think on ... "When Plan A fails, what the hell are you going to do then?" IP: Logged |

I met Louis in 1989. Have taken several basic, advanced pistol, shotgun, subgun classes. There's not a classier man walking than Mr. Awerbuck. He and Leigh run a first class outfit and if you got the chance to train with him, you'd be a fool to pass it up.My wife took her first class with him, and was initially very intimidated. She was put at ease in the first minutes and became "a prodigy." Has since taken basic / advanced pistol, and shotgun. Women are generally not "bred" to be tactically sound fighters, and with Louis' teaching capabilities, it was amazing to see her light bulb come on. Mr. Rowe, getting any war stories out of him is next to impossible. Not his style. He's got lots of real world experience, but blowing his own horn is not in his reportoiore. I heard him tell a good one, but it took hours to drag it out. Anyway, after the way Maddog bagged on Iggy Piazza, it's good to see he knows a good guy when he sees one. Hawk- Louis isn't on the 'Net, least not that he's publicizing. I don't have an address for him handy. I do know he'll be assisting Colonel Cooper in teaching a few classes at Gunsite this year. You might be able to contact him through them or hopefully someone will post his company's address. He is most definately worth the money. Erick IP: Logged |

Louis Awerbuck can be reached at the Yavapai Firearms Academy. 520-772-8262You can call and request a class schedule. He is on the road a lot, so do not be surprised if it takes a while for him or Leigh to get back to you. IP: Logged |

Just wanted to say that in addition to all of Louis' fine points as an instructor, something about those eyes...If those eyes were glaring at me over a set of sights (meaning he was throwing down at me) I think I'd just about die of fright. Some people have an intense look, but Louis looks like he could burn holes through battleship armor with his glare. Am I the only one who feels this way? I hope someone gets his personal military history recorded before it's too late. Edmund IP: Logged |

Edmund- You're not the only one who has noticed that.I have a dear friend who Louis has spoken to, somewhat, about his military service. I'll ask him & see what he can obtain, with Louis' permission. Check 6, Erick IP: Logged |
